High School Project

I looked at my wardrobe and i found thiss top that i made during my high school for my major project Design and Technology. This is the very first garment that i made.

Stuffs That i just made

I made this jacket using the fabric that i found from Tessuti. I love the green wasabi silk crippled, i think it has a really beautiful soft and modern colour. It looks very fresh, that i suddenly thought why i shouldnt use this fabric to make a lightweight jacket.

I also bought this beautiful missoni fabric that people use for making pillow and others. I love the knit and the details and pattern of the knit. It inspires me to make simple jacket with drape to let the movement of the knit flows how it would fall.

Preview work

I just had my photoshoot of my previous work that i did during my university. 1. Shades of Gres, inspired by coutourier, Madame Gres's aesthetic in the pleating. This garment is made out of 2.5m jersey fabric without being cut, only 'Pleat'. Everything is done by hand stitching.

2. Dots, inspired by Yayoi Kusama,this leather bodice is made with the pink screen print dots

3. Movie inspired. "Memoirs of A Geisha" and "Rising of red lantern". Researching of the garment used by women in the movie, cheongsam and kimono, and it is being reflected through the silhouette, and fabrications.

Flower embroidery

Who does not love embroidery? It is a way to Show your drawing and make it three dimensional, unlike digital print. It is very personal and alai illustrate the hand skill of the embroiderer. Here i want to show you Some samples of embroidery that i made. Can you imagine how it will look like if all of these are in your top or your skirt? You will look ravishing!

There are more experimentations to find the right colours. Sequins sizes and colour are very important to convey the mood of the collection. Thread is also very important.

Post-Production

Before i decided on which way that i should apply the bead, i have to experiment a lot. It is a very complicated process, to find a way for maker to be able to follow my instruction easily. The instruction has to be very clear, so they won't get confused. The pictures below are examples of the experimentation.

The COrydalis

For my end of collection, this year, i have developed a collection "The corydalis". The collection takes inspiration from organic floral and translates this into three dimensional garment interpretations, incorporating contemporary textile manipulations, prints and embroidery. Textile development has been informed by research into traditional use of lace, colour, embroidery and beading during Indonesian Dutch colonization history. An exploration of Indonesian Dutch colonization history has influenced the translation of hand rendered flower illustrations combined with traditional methods of creating the Kebaya, an Indonesian symbolic garment that is made out of lace brocade. The hand beading and stitch-work used within the creation of the traditional Kebaya speaks into the handwork, and care taken into the creation of couture garments within a European perspective. “The Corydalis” aims to marry these two rich traditions to convey a contemporary perspective based on skill and craftsmanship.
