Practise- Brushing and fashion figure

This is the practice of the brushing; using the selecting tool or inversing it to create some different colour in the certain area. I downloaded the brush from www.brusheezy.com. THere are different type of the brushes that are very interesting.

After scanning the fashion figures, we have to keep the original figure; therefore it is better to duplicate the original everytime we have to do something to the figure.

However, it is also a good idea if we do head, feet and hands separately, because they are the troublesome part at the moment.

For the body, we could pick the colours from swatches colour palette.

Then to create a gradation, there are tools we could use:

  • Dodge tool : this is to lighten the area
  • Burn tool : This is to darken the area
  • Sponge : This is for blending the colour

Spain~~

I love the landscape of the spain, it has a unique feeling, and a great architecture on its ground

Illustration

I love the way they did he layout, it is cool and clever, especially with the reflective refined lines surrounding it. The background, even though it is white, it still gives a feeling of ash flowing in a way, or very nature-based.

This image has a nice colour and combination of the  graphic aspects. I love the earth colour shown here, it is greenish brown and has a tinge of yellow as well reflecting the light of the sun.

"Concept Board'

This concept board 'creative' is chosen as it seems like the best out of the others (as all the other classes have commented and helped me to choos as well). The 'Collage' one is considered to have a lot of stuffs going on. Therefore, the 'creative' one is better than that, because of the blending, and other effects on the image.

---Aviva COhen---

This artwork "Naked tree" is wonderful and evocative due to the layers of the image of tree with different colour each. There is one with white, red, black and orange. The composition of the layers is well positioned as it creates a dramatic effect and invite the viewer to feel exactly what she tries to communicate. She questions "Where is nature?". The artwork appears to be in any seasons, winter, fantasy, summer, and even in the evening.

Dress

This dress is created by John Galliano (British, born Gibraltar, 1960) for Christian Dior Couture (French, founded 1947). The dress is simple, and have a unique form because of the mannequin dress it has. IT looks like it is still unfinished, yet he seems to make it look finished garment. However, when we look at the pin foams on the elbow, we will not think the way he thinks. The garment has such combination and question the way people dressed up for the last decade. The use of bustle with great fabrication and embroidered details with the torso have contradicting aspect. As before, women needed to dress up in a flamboyant and modest manner yet here, it uses croset and the skin is really exposed.
However, in overall, this garment has an original design that people would not think off.

Tao Kurihara (Japanese, b. 1973) for tao Comme des Garçons (Japanese, founded 2005). Ensemble, spring/summer 2007. Ivory silk knit; white paper; natural cotton canvas. Gift of Comme des Garçons, 2007 (2007.382.2a–f).

Tao Kurihara is a graduate of the prestigious fashion college of Central Saint Martins in London. She was mentored at Commes des Garçons and, as a protégé of Rei Kawakubo and Junya Watanabe.
Kurihara has such a feminine design by playing with the notion of combining knitwear and lingerie. It was such a unique idea. Lingerie is commonly used as underwear, however she is brave to bring it forward as a garment and to be worn in public. However, it is still modest, even though there is still a sensual feeling radiated.
The dress above is a combination of “a shirt and a wedding.”It is created completely in white, ended with bridesmaids in fine gauged silk knit polo shirts and crinoline hooped skirts of shredded paper.

Tree House

source: http://www.picanswers.com/questions/675-tree-house

This is the picture i found, this is a restaurant in Japan. The architecture is really unique, as it totally combines nature with  the house.

THe architecture of 'Frank Llyod Wright'- AMerican has such a great connection to the earth. He uses concrete to reinforce the shape of the design and to maintain the balance. Moreover, due to the use of the concrete, a correspondence to the nature could exist. Most of the buildings are predominantly built for a certain person and location.

The first image is 'Falling water' and the second one is 'Massaro's house' (2005). The Massaro House long building is created in a shape similar to a yacht. It is anchored off a rocky island in the Mahopac lake, New York. The building is extended upon the water in long horizontal lines; with the materials used such as concrete, glass, stone and copper that merge with the surrounding natural landscape.

Movie posters

This poster has the font that is not suitable for the movie, because at the first time, the font is red and attract the viewers, the viewer would think of a cool, full of action and unique plots. The red sometimes could have the indication of involving violent or mystery. However, paradoxically, it is supported by the image of two men laughing which is contradictory. The bold line in the word 'express', there is too much emphasize on it.
The movie poster of the fast and furious has a great font due to the variety of the use of the style and bold letter. The word of 'fast' and 'furious' are emphasized in quite big font. It also indicates the language techniguq such as assonance, to attract the viewer. The 'tokyo drift' is larger and it is arched so it does look like there is a sense of movement.
The bold black colour is really effective here, it is standing out with the white background, and reveal the night life of the car racing.

Jeni's Scanning

How to scan:
Firstly there are two ways

  • Go to photoshop and press the menu 'File' and then import, then click the 'HP scan Pro' then click the menu 'Adjust'. Then you decide which colour and resolution you want for the image. After you place the image on the scanner board, press the menu 'New scan' then change the orientation as you like. Then press 'accept'.
  • After you get the image in the photoshop, save the file as photoshop and then rescale the size by pressing the 'Image'

WE could not do the first task such as scan with the descreen on and off. Therefore, we did the second task straight away.

The highest resolution would be best for web, print and presentations for fashion. It is because, the smaller it has, the more rough and undetail we would see when we zoom it. For example, let's take a look at the image with 72 dpi, 150 dpi and 300 dpi below.

  • This is the sample fabric that i scanned with 72 dpi. The rough texture of the fabric could be seen even though from far away, it still looks fabulous.

  1. This is taken with 150 dpi(left). Although it is better, however, when it is compared to the image with 300 dpi ( the right), the quality can be seen. You could try to zoom it and see which image that provides the best details.

This is the DDS drawing that i made, i scanned it with 300 dpi and with non sharpening to avoid the messy lines that is produced by the pen.

Narumi-Table ware

I just saw some collection of Japanese tableware brand, Narumi. This is considered to be the most beautiful tableware produced in Japan. It has such a great design, features which are so delicately created and it is also stylish. Beside the colour, red and black, it also offers various colour for instance mocca, or white with cherry blossom pattern.
I love the pattern of the plate, it is cute yet elegant on white when using it for buffet. I think it really has Japanese style.

THis bowl has such a great feature. Instead of simple normal bowl, it has a shape like a leaf with wide edge.

Moshe Safdie-Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

"The Marina Bay Sands, in Singapore, is an exhibition / meeting / auditorium / leisure / shopping / hotel complex [really, its probably even more than all that] commissioned by the Las Vegas Sands for a [giant] plot on the ever-evolving Marina Bay."

I have been checking on several architecture building in websites and magazine. There is this magazine that i saw, and it has such awesome design and building in Singapore. Then i check it, i saw this image of 'Marina Bay' and i love it how it is like an icon of SIngapore. It is massive, including Therefore, i might use this for the concept of Archetectonic for my next assessment.

This image is also in SIngapore, and i think it has such a great design as it is going to be on the leading edge of green design.

I also might consider this to be used for my next project.

BENTEN

(Left image)

(right image)

This is the new brand that has appeared in Indonesia, Benten. The name Benten has a meaning of the only Goddess in the Japanese Seven Lucky Gods. She represents love, beauty and fine arts. Another definition of Benten, is the Queen of the Sea who often mount on a dragon. Benten was founded not too long ago, in early June 2007. They have more focused on creating evening gowns and cocktail dresses. They design a lot of beautiful designs with a lot of flowing material to match the concept of Benten, 'Goddess'. It is seen in some of the garment in the first and second image above. The soft pale transculent colour and loose soft material have feminine elements. The hair accesorries represent arts and modern women's style. It is unique yet it also gives powerful atmosphere.

Great Architecture

I saw this Dubai Architecture, i think these buildings have such a great design. They are modern, original, and very sophisticated in term of the shape and location.

THe first building, it is a hotel and situated near the beach. I love how the hotel is shaped, it is like an icon for the beach. The design looks like a surf board or half of the ship, how it has a pointed edge at the end. The long straight line behind the building is amazing, it is sort of a pillar support and provide strength and declaration of the authority the hotel has. Moreover, it is also pointing towards the sky, giving an infinite possibility definition.

The second building, "Death star" has such a great round design. IT is massive, and attractive due to the colour building materials that are built from. The round circle inside the building seems to be the eyes, that protect and overseen the country. Not only that, this 3-D building, seems to get inspired by the idea of astrology and Planetarium.

Beautiful Scenery

I just saw these pictures from the websites, and i totally fall in love with them. This pictures were taken in Versailles, Paris, where Marie Antoinette used to live there. I love the scenery, and how the images reflect the extravagant and 16th century lifestyle how people used to enjoy themselves in luxury; having a massive decorated room, detailed wallpaper, window frames and beautiful embroidered garments.
In the first image. the repetition of the windows and the small plant creates a majestic apperance, and fantasy-like, supported with the placement of small lake and flowers.
The second image, i love how the sun light seems illuminating the road in the evening. There is a sense of divine and heaven because of the golden, yellow, purple and white.

Cherry Blossom

This is my very first blog, and i'm still learning. I would put more pictures that attract me more later.

I love this cherry blossom picture because of the colour of the flowers; pink, light pink and white. Not only, this picture has the japanese culture, it also suggests the idea of feminity, and sweetness.
